It’s the most wonderful time of the year, not! Today we’re covering the Lawson Family Massacre on Christmas Day in 1929. Charles Lawson took his family of nine into town to buy new clothes for them and have a family portrait taken, which was not considered normal at that time for a poor farming family. Tragically, on Christmas Day in 1929, Charles brutally slaughtered his wife and 6 of his 7 children. The Christmas cake that 17 year old Marie Lawson made that morning, the family portrait and the mystery of the entire day’s events have inspired books, documentaries, a low budget movie and, of course, podcasts. Theories and questions remain to this day regarding this unfortunate family’s Christmas Day.
‘Tis the season to be crazy!
